"Finding balance is crucial, and for me, that meant a house upstate. I thought decorating would be my creative outlet, but the garden stole my heart!" Smith shared, revealing the unexpected source of her inspiration.
Smith's approach to gardening is all about embracing experimentation, a philosophy that seamlessly translated into the collection. Flowerbeds inspired gridded prints on leisure suits, while the texture of tall flowers like foxglove and lupin influenced tactile knits. Even raffia baskets found their way onto a stylish stretch jacket and minidress.
The garden's vibrant colors also made their way into the collection, with unexpected combinations of poppy orange and hydrangea blue, inspired by Smith's 12 flower beds. This palette, along with touches of chambray and denim, added a unique twist to the luxury American brand's latest lineup.
"The challenge was to capture the brand's DNA while embracing the garden's joy. We wanted bold, graphic prints that still felt minimalistic and New York-inspired," Smith explained, referring to the large-scale watercolor iris prints hand-painted in her garden.
"Gardening has brought me, and now my team, so much happiness. This collection is an invitation to share in that joy," Smith concluded, offering a range of elegant, calming garments that embody the essence of her garden.
