During their pre-match discussion, Scholes humorously expressed doubt about Martinez's ability to contend with Haaland, puffing out his cheeks in a gesture that implied the Argentine would be overmatched. Butt chimed in with a quip, suggesting that Haaland could easily overpower Martinez—an assertion that drew laughter from Scholes as he joked about Haaland scoring a goal and tossing Martinez into the net.
