A water crisis has hit homes in west Cornwall, leaving residents without a vital resource. But here's the catch: it's not a natural disaster or a drought that's to blame. It's an issue with the water supply infrastructure.
South West Water (SWW) has stepped in to address the situation, but their solution has sparked some controversy.
The Problem:
Some households in the St Ives to Nancledra area are facing low water pressure or a complete loss of supply. This is due to "emergency repairs" being carried out on a pump at Trevethow. SWW engineers are working hard to replace the pump and restore normal service.
The Temporary Fix:
To ensure those affected still have access to water, SWW has set up bottled water stations. These stations are located at Trenwith car park in St Ives and The Engine Inn in Nancledra. Additionally, vulnerable customers will receive water bottle deliveries directly to their homes.
The Company's Apology:
SWW acknowledged the inconvenience caused and expressed their commitment to restoring water supplies as swiftly as possible.

While the bottled water stations and deliveries are a practical solution, some residents and environmental advocates are questioning the long-term sustainability and environmental impact of such measures.
